MVP – Most Valuable Player (or Patron!)
The MVP title has always been about excellence. Whether it's on the field, the court, or in the stadium, it honors athletes who rise above the rest with exceptional performance.
The tradition began back in 1911 with baseball’s first MVP honor, the Chalmers Award—named after the Chalmers Automobile Company, who gifted cars to standout players in both leagues. The first recipients? Frank Schulte of the Chicago Cubs and the legendary Ty Cobb of the Detroit Tigers.
Football followed suit in 1955 with the NFL’s own MVP honor: the Jim Thorpe Trophy. Named for one of the greatest athletes in sports history—and the league’s first president—it was first awarded to Chicago Bears receiver Harlon Hill.
